Current 6th and 7th grade Students

  1. Students will log in to their Source account (this will not work with a parent/guardian’s account).
  2. Click Class Registration to view the course registration home screen for next year. On the Registration Home Page:
    • Exploratory categories have red exclamation marks.
    • Click the pencil icon on the right side of the row to view your exploratory choices (be sure to view both pages).
    • You must select three choices and then click Okay.
  3. Save and submit by April 3, 2024.
  4. You will get your schedule before school starts in September.

Spanish Class Request Form

If Spanish is your student’s first choice, fill out the Spanish Class Request Form:

  • Semester & Yearlong options
  • Learn to read, write and speak in the Spanish language
  • Learn cultural traditions and history of Spanish speaking countries and people
  • If you take yearlong Spanish in both 7th and 8th grade, you can earn a high school credit

Exploratory Class Descriptions

Team Sports (semester & year-long):  includes sports/activities such as soccer, volleyball, badminton, frisbee and basketball; intended for students who like to be active and give effort while participating; would help students understand the basics of the sport but most of the time would be spent participating in the game itself. This course is for 7th & 8th grade students.

Visual Arts (semester): Build skills in a variety of modalities and materials including drawing, painting, charcoal, sculpture; explore self-expression through culture and community!

Yearbook/Photography/Graphic Design (year-long): Use artistic and journalism skills to collaboratively create our annual yearbook publication that captures the Aki community spirit! This course is for 7th & 8th grade students.

STEM Innovation Lab (semester): In the STEM class you will learn about Manufacturing, Construction, 3D Modeling, Engineering and Electricity.  You will build and create things with materials, tools and machinery, work with technical drawings and become aware of careers related to the subjects of the class.

Introductory Strings (year-long): No experience necessary with orchestral strings; option to join higher level ensemble; learn instrument technique, music reading, practice technique, tempo, rhythm; performance each semester!

Introductory Band (year-long): No experience necessary with winds and percussion; option to join higher level ensemble; learn instrument technique, music reading, practice technique, tempo, rhythm; group performance each semester!

Intermediate Strings (year-long): Experience recommended with orchestral strings; may participate multiple years; learn instrument technique, music history, business, technology, composition, goal setting, teamwork; performance/recording each semester!

Intermediate Band (year-long): Experience recommended with winds and percussion; may participate multiple years; learn instrument technique, music history, business, technology, composition, goal setting, teamwork; performance/recording each semester!

Experience Music (semester): May participate multiple semesters/years; learn instrumental concepts from all families of instruments – winds, percussion, strings, electronic; hands on learning includes access to guitars, ensemble singing (choir), recording technology, sampling, percussion, orchestral strings, piano. Discussions on composition, history, and the arts. Overview and introduction to all things music. Performance option each semester.

Beginning Spanish Language (semester & yearlong): Begin to explore the Spanish language, and culture of Spanish speaking countries and peoples, through this semester introductory course. No prior experience required. The yearlong class is for 7th grade only, and these students will continue with a yearlong class in 8th grade to earn high school credit.

Native Speakers of Spanish (semester): Build on prior knowledge and experience with the Spanish language, developing speaking, reading and writing skills. This course is for students who have home/family experience speaking Spanish. This course is for 7th and 8th grade students.
