Athletics
Aki Kurose Athletics
Aki Kurose Middle School is a wonderfully diverse school, offering several sports. Any student who wants to participate in a sport will have a chance to learn and play. All teams promote teamwork and togetherness in working towards a common goal. Effort, determination, good sportsmanship and scholarship (2.0 or above GPA) are a must for those wishing to participate in sports.
Practice Days: Overall, practice days and times for each sport are determined by the coach. Practices are typically twice a week. Practices are scheduled during the week right after school and can fall on any weekday except Wednesday. See individual sports below for specific practice times, which are posted once they are available,
Transportation for games: A bus is provided by the district to and from games that require significant travel. Parents/guardians are highly encouraged to attend games to support their players.
Transportation after practice: Players are responsible to arrange their own transportation. If you need a bus, please contact Mike Browne in the CLC (Community Learning Center) or email the Athletic Director rkkirihara@seattleschools.org
Physicals in the Aki Kurose Wellness Center
Physicals are required to participate. If your scholar needs a physical, the Aki Kurose Wellness Center here at the school provides them free of charge. An appointment must be made for a sports physical. To make an appointment, call 206-326-2141.
Teams at Aki Kurose
For all sports, there is a Varsity team for more experienced players and a JV team for those learning and/or building skills. Coaches place players on teams based on skill.
We are using FinalForms to register online for middle school athletic programming. If you previously had an account, you can log in and all your info will still be there!
Families must be enrolled with Seattle Public Schools to have an active FinalForms account. If you have not created an account, please follow the instructions below. A parent/guardian must create their FinalForms account first, before the student is able to create their account.
If families are unable to access this online platform, they should contact their school athletic coordinator and/or athletic support staff at their building. Computers, as well as physical packets for uploads, can be made available for families to complete registration online.
