Welcome Back to the 2024-2025 School Year at Aki Kurose Middle School! 

Dear Aki Kurose Families, 

We hope this message finds you well-rested and excited for the start of a new school year! As summer ends, we are preparing to welcome your children back to campus and embark on another year of learning, growth, and community building. 

A Year of Connection, Rigorous Instruction, and Community Engagement 

At Aki Kurose, we are committed to creating a nurturing environment where every student feels valued and supported. This year, our focus is not only on fostering strong connections among students, families, and staff but also on delivering rigorous instruction that challenges our students to become conceptual thinkers. We aim to equip every student with the critical thinking skills they need to engage thoughtfully with their communities and the world around them. We believe that when students feel safe, cared for, and academically challenged, they thrive in all aspects of their lives. 

Important Information for the Start of School 

As we prepare for the first day of school, we want to share some important details to help your student start the year off smoothly: 

• Student Schedules: Please have your students log into the Source the day before school starts to check their schedule. It’s important that they familiarize themselves with their classes and teachers. 
• First Day of School – Advisory: On the first day, all students will begin in their Advisory class, which is labeled as their 8th period on their schedule. Advisory is a once-a-week class that is a vital part of our school structure, where students build community, set goals, and receive important information. This class plays a crucial role in helping students navigate their academic journey and feel connected to our school community. 

Building Our School Community Together 

We believe that a strong partnership between school and family is essential to your child’s success. To help foster this connection, we are excited to invite you to our Back-to-School BBQs. These events are a fantastic opportunity to get some face-to-face time with the Aki Kurose administrative team, get your questions answered, connect with Aki teachers, and learn more about some of our school’s community partners. We’ll also be grilling up burgers and hot dogs for everyone to enjoy! 

Here are the details for the BBQs: 

6th Grade BBQ: 

• Date: August 29th, 2024 
• Time: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. 
• Location: Field behind the Aki gym and Aki gym 

7th & 8th Grade BBQ: 

• Date: August 30th, 2024 
• Time: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. 
• Location: Field behind the Aki gym and Aki gym 

We hope you can join us for these fun and informative events as we kick off the new school year together. 

We are so excited to see our students back in the classrooms, ready to learn and grow. Let’s make this school year a memorable one, filled with achievement, joy, and a deep sense of community.
