After School Programs – Session 1

Aki’s session 1 of after school programs will run October 13th-January 14th, Monday through Thursday from 3:45-5:05 p.m., with the exception of Wednesdays, which run 2:30-4:05 p.m.

ART TOGETHER: Program will guide the students through a wide range of art activities, including paint, acrylic and watercolor, drawing, collage making, etc…

AYM HIGH: Join us for games, culturally relevant food, and lessons while we build community and celebrate our AANHPI heritage and brotherhood in this Asian Young Men’s group. Completed students can earn a $200 stipend!

BEAUTY BOOT CAMP: This is a HANDS-ON club where students will learn the basics of hair styling, fingernail design, dive into the actual ingredients in hair and face products and enjoy guidance and demonstrations by a licensed business owner/stylist.

BEADS & BRACELETS: This fun club will allow space for students to design and make various bead and bracelets pieces of art.

CHESS CLUB: Come learn the basic strategy and rules of chess in a fun and interactive way.  Chess master, beginner…? All are welcome.

K-POP ART: Like K-Pop music or culture…? Ever wanted to learn more about it..? Come to Club K-POP to discuss artists, latest happenings, listen to music and meet new friends.

COOKING: Program will provide students a hands-on experience of cooking basics.  Each day students will explore recipes and learn how to prepare various foods.  Students will be able to eat their food during each class.

CORE GAMING: Play video games to practice skills that help youth stay safe, remain calm under pressure, communicate respectfully and persuasively, expand their connection to their family and community, and make lasting and valuable friendships.

CURSIVE CLUB: A fun, low-pressure after-school club where students can learn the basics of cursive handwriting. Students will practice letter formation, connecting letters, writing words and sentences, and developing their own unique handwriting style.

DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS: Are you a fan of Dungeons and Dragons?   If so, this is the after-school club for you — come have fun playing Dungeons & Dragon with other Aki D & D fans!    This is a student led club (with teacher supervision) who have fun role playing in this collective story.

EXTENDED DAY MATH: Extended Day is designed to help provide students that need additional support in math and language arts with designated class time and space for additional instruction practice. Classes are taught by wonderful Aki Teachers…!

GAMERS CLUB: Enjoy PS4, XBOX 360 and Nintendo Switch…?  Come play in some cool tournaments and explore the world of gaming.
GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL:

INTRAMURAL SPORTS: Like to play sports, want to play in a fun and welcoming environment to develop skills and stay active.  Come join the Intramurals Sports Club.  First 6 weeks will be co-ed flag football, followed by 6 weeks of co-ed volleyball, then 6-8 weeks of co-ed basketball.

K-POP CLUB: Like K-Pop music or culture…? Ever wanted to learn more about it..? Come to Club K-POP to discuss artists, latest happenings, listen to music and meet new friends.

KINDNESS ALLIANCE: Learn about how to form healthy relationships and communicate effectively in this after-school club filled with activities, mini games, and food. LGBTQ+ students and allies are welcome. Completed students can earn a $200 stipend!

LOTUS CIRCLE: Safe space for Asian and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander girls and femmes to reflect, bond, and build sisterhood through their shared cultures.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING CLUB: Enjoy playing the game, MAGIC.  Want to learn more about it or try something new..? You’re invited to come have fun, learn strategy, make new friends and build community by playing this super fun game.

MBK/MSK/HU: These 3 programs are designed to create a safe and interactive space for students to explore culture, discuss various topics, and be assigned a mentor that will help students set goals, check-in, and be an additional positive support for students.

POKEMON CLUB: A fun and engaging space where students learn strategy, sportsmanship, and creativity through the Pokémon Trading Card Game. We focus on building math, reading, and social-emotional skills while fostering community and a love for the game.

READING INTERVENTION: Additional support for English Language Learners in the are of ELA: English Language Arts

ROOM TO BREATHE: A club focused on mental health, stress management, relaxation, and building healthy habits. Topics covered will include yoga and meditation, cozy hobbies (reading, coloring, crafts), mental health journaling, and more!

STANDING ON BUSINESS: Designed for the entrepreneur in all of us.  This class will cover various aspects to staring your own business, taxes, payroll, revenue vs expenses, etc…

SUPER SCIENCE: Join us for hands-on, project-based learning activities every Thursday! You will get to learn and experiment with different science topics each week and work with friends to build various STEM projects.
