CLC Programs for 2020/2021 School Year 2nd Semester

I’m writing today excited to tell you about our 2nd semester of program offerings. The CLC has 3 main program areas we’re offering during this session:

In-Person Support – Aki CLC is providing in-person support Monday through Friday at South Shore K-8 for Aki Kurose Students. The program is staffed and supervised by a team of CLC folks, offers academic support for students, ensures consistent and reliable connectivity, and serves breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack daily. The program runs 8:30am-5:00pm daily.

Cultural Mentoring Programs – Aki CLC offers 3 different mentoring programs. My Brother’s Keeper, for our black male students. My Sister’s Keeper, for our black female students. And, HermanX UnidX for our LatinX students. These programs meet both in-person and virtually in a workshop style session led by high quality mentors. Workshop session topics range from identity, culture, college and career, community mapping, recent events, as well as student interests, guest speakers and goal setting.

Enrichment Programs – Aki CLC is excited to offer a few fun activities for students to engage with their classmates in a non-academic/social environment. This semester we’re offering the following clubs/programs; exercise and fitness, photography, trivia (uses Kahoot mobile app), art, and basketball training. All these programs will be virtual/online through student’s Schoology pages and taught/led by CLC staff.
