Dear Aki Kurose Families and Students,

Daily, we are striving to create a sense of urgency focused on learning. The students at Aki Kurose have worked hard this year and we are confident that they will do well on the upcoming state tests. Thank you very much for everything you have done to support the education of your child and our school this year. We appreciate all your efforts in letting your student know how important their education is to their future.

The #1 benefit of taking this test is for students to demonstrate their personal best and to show their continuous growth.  The test results are very important for our individual students and for our entire school.  Test results are used at Aki Kurose to inform our instructional practices, determining in which “Just Right” reading class and math enrichment class to place students, and results aid in setting individual academic goals with your student.  It is also a way we demonstrate to our community the tremendous growth our Aki students make.

Please take time over the next few weeks to discuss the SBAC testing with your child and remind them to try their very best.  Use this opportunity to share with your child that you are proud of them and confident that they will do well. Please help support your child to:
    •    Get plenty of sleep on the nights before the tests,
    •    Eat a nutritious breakfast at home or at school,
    •    Arrive to school on time (by 8:50 AM) and be at school every day,
    •    Relax and give their best performance.
Please note cell phones are not allowed to be used while students are taking state tests. As always, please contact the main office at (206) 252-7700 if you need to get in touch with your student.

Please call me at (206) 252-7705 or e-mail, if you have questions or concerns about the state testing.

We appreciate your hard work in helping to prepare your student to be successful in school every day.  We also thank you in advance for encouraging your child to do their best on the tests.  Please let us know if there is anything we can do to better support your child.  We want your child to leave us with a solid foundation of skills and a future full of opportunities—ready for success in high school, college, and life.
