    Seattle Parks and Recreation Community Learning Centers presents:

    Parks Academy of Learning - Summer 2021

    General Information

    Aki Kurose CLC (community learning center) is the office/program that works with Aki Kurose Middle School year-round to provide various programs for students including after school activities, math and ELA intervention, mentoring clubs, break camps, summer programs, and much much more….

    The CLC is a City of Seattle Program through Parks and Recreation that’s been at Aki Kurose since 2012. We are excited to announce the 2 programs we’ll be offering this summer for our current Aki Kurose students, and the current 5th graders that’ll be proud new Peace Cranes in the fall of 2021.

    Current 5th – 7th graders Program – Math/ELA Focus w/Friday Enrichment

    • Academic classes Monday – Thursday 100% virtual through Schoology QR code
    • Students will attend 1 math class and 1 ELA class daily
    • Classes will run roughly 60 minutes each
    • Enrichment – In-Person at Aki Kurose on Fridays only
    • Dates – June 28th – July 23rd
    • Specific Class Times – TBD

    Registration Info

    Current 8th Graders – Career Labs Curriculum and UW Literacy

    • Dates – July 12th – July 29th
    • Days – Monday through Thursday qr code
    • Platform – 100% In-Person at Aki Kurose
    • Times – 10:30am-12:00pm = UW Literacy/ELA, 12:30-2:30pm = Career Labs Curriculum
    • Stipend Incentive – All students that fully complete curriculum and UW classwork will receive a $300/stipend
    • Attendance Policy – Students are allowed 1 absence only to receive full stipend amount
    • Max Capacity – 40 students MAX. Priority to our BIPOC students and current students participating in our MBSK/HU Mentoring Programs
